Looking for help or inspiration? Take a look at these new genealogy books.

Lots of people think about online resources like Ancestry.com or FamilySearch.org for genealogy research and inspiration.  That's great (and we're happy to be able to provide access to those resources), but don't forget to look at the books!  MHL continues to build our print genealogy collection, and we have some great new additions for you to borrow:

NextGen genealogy: the DNA connection by David R. Dowell describes the three major categories of DNA testing for family history research.  If you're thinking about purchasing a test, read this book first.

The Library Journal review of Journeys home: inspiring stories, plus tips and strategies to find your family history by Andrew McCarthy, says, "Family secrets, mysteries, and lore are the impetus for the emotion-filled sojourns described in this beautifully illustrated essay collection and genealogy guide."

Journeys Home

How to use Evernote for genealogy: a step-by-step guide to organize your research and boost your genealogy productivity by Kerry Scott is a must-read if you're ready to take your research to the next organizational level.

Elizabeth Powell Crowe came out with the 10th revised edition of Genealogy Online.  It's still considered an excellent resource, especially for those just beginning their research.

Overwhelmed by the FamilySearch.org site?  Check out the Unofficial guide to FamilySearch.org: how to find your family history on the world's largest free genealogy website by Dana McCullough.

Visit the library's catalog to see what other books we have.  Let us know if you don't see what you want and we'll try to get it.
