American History with Don Robb: The Gilded Age

cornelius vanderbilt house

Historians and economists often compare the "Gilded Age" (1876 - 1900) to the Nineteen Twenties, and present-day America. This series, led by Don Robb, will explore how the Gilded Age changed America: powerful industrial corporations, a huge influx of immigrants, the growth of great cities, party politics as tense as those of today and the reactions of the American people, rich and poor, to a changing society.
