Backyard Composting with the Bread Oven Method

This program will teach you an easy method to compost in your backyard. This will be less about the science and more about the practice of composting. Andrew Brousseau's own 'Bread Oven' method is designed to be easy and considers your compost pile as a waste disposal bioreactor. No more flipping the pile! We will also discuss the global flow of nutrients and fertilizer.

Andrew Brousseau is a native of Massachusetts and attended UMass Amherst where his mentor was Lynn Margulis, the late distinguished university professor of geosciences. After college he worked as an oceanographer in Antarctica and as a computer programmer. Despite those opportunities he returned to land to work on society's nutrient recycling problem.

A program in the Andover Seed Library Lecture Series, generously funded by the Friends of Memorial Hall Library.
