ARTIST STATEMENT
Painting from life, whether a still life or a landscape, is challenging. However, plein air
painting, my personal favorite, adds an extra layer of complexity. The scene in front of me is
constantly changing—sometimes, just as I make a stroke, nature shifts before my eyes.
This continuous back-and-forth transforms capturing the moment into an adventure and
brings immense satisfaction.
That’s why I can’t wait to go outside and paint every day. When that’s not possible, I
channel my energy into still-life painting.
I love the buttery consistency of oil paints. My technique involves working in a single sitting
(Alla prima or wet-in-wet) and using energetic brushstrokes to express my emotions. The
balance of colors and an engaging design is important to me. My daily practice of painting
smaller works allows me to learn, experiment, and grow.
