General Guidelines
- Some of our Makerspace programs now use a lottery system for registration. Registration for these programs closes 2 weeks before the program and patrons will be notified if they are randomly selected. Programs using a registration lottery have more information about registering in the description.
- Patrons must be in at least 6th grade or accompanied by an adult while in the Makerspace.
- No food allowed. Covered drinks only.
- Equipment is available first come first serve.
- Free materials are limited.
- Staff must approve materials prior to use.
- The library is not responsible for materials that are damaged.

We will have a new project each month in 2025. Come in and complete the project to stamp your Makerspace Passport card that you design with the Glowforge. Complete all of the projects to be entered into a drawing at the end of the year!
July – Learn to Make a Can Koozie
During the month of July, come into the Makerspace and learn to make a can koozie with our vinyl cutter and heat press anytime we’re open. Supplies will be provided. One per person.
June – Learn to Make a Dice Tray
During the month of June, come into the Makerspace and learn to make a dice tray with our Glowforge laser cutter anytime we’re open. Supplies will be provided. One per person.
May – Learn to Make a Bookmark
During the month of May, come into the Makerspace and learn to make a bookmark with our sewing machines anytime we’re open. Supplies will be provided. One per person.
April – Learn to Make a Magnet
During the month of April, come into the Makerspace and learn to make a magnet with our 3D printer anytime we’re open. Supplies will be provided. One per person.
March – Learn to Make a Keychain
During the month of March, come into the Makerspace and learn to use our button maker anytime we’re open. Supplies will be provided. One per person.
February – Learn to Make a Sun Catcher
During the month of February, come into the Makerspace and learn to use our vinyl cutters anytime we’re open. Supplies will be provided. One per person.
January – Make a Laser Engraved Makerspace Passport

Software
3D File Repositories
Find free 3D design files to print.
Design Software
Create your own 3D print files.
- Tinkercad: A free-to-use, web browser based design software for beginners.
- Fusion 360: A paid software, although they do offer free hobbyist licenses for more advanced users.
Slicing Software
Prepares files for the 3D printer.
- Prusa Slicer: Windows/Mac/Linux software.
- Kiri:moto: Browser based slicer for Chromebooks/tablets.
Materials
- 1.75mm PLA filament.
- No additives (example: wood or conductive filament).
Guidelines
- 3D printing is limited to prints that will take less than 6 hours if using your own approved 1.75mm PLA filament, 3 hours if using the library’s filament.
- Patrons are limited to 1 3D print per day regardless of print time.
- Patrons must be present until file begins printing.
- Staff reserves the right to refuse to print an object for any reason.

- The Glowforge accepts SVG design files.
- SVGs can be found online or created with software such Inkscape or Silhouette Studio Business Edition.
Materials
- Bring your own materials.
- All materials must be checked by staff before being used.
- Materials allowed: wood, laser approved acrylic.
- Glowforge Proofgrade materials are recommended.
Guidelines
- Glowforge brand materials are highly encouraged. If you are unsure your material is allowed, please ask a staff member.
- Staff will need to check material before the Glowforge can start printing. Staff reserves the right to refuse any material or project for any reason.
- Patrons must stay at the Glowforge and check the project the entire time the machine is running.
- Patrons may use the Glowforge up to 2 hours per day.
- Stop immediately if any error messages pop up and let a staff member know. DO NOT override any error messages or start Glowforge.
- If there is a problem while the machine is running, press the button on the machine immediately and inform a staff member.
- The makerspace is not responsible for any damage to patrons’ materials.
- If the Glowforge shows an error message or Makerspace staff believe a project has become a safety concern, we will need to stop the machine immediately whether or not your project has completed.
- Patrons must agree to follow the guidelines in order to use the Glowforge.
