Decodable books are books written primarily using words that follow the rules of phonics and include skills children will encounter while learning to read, like short vowels, digraphs, long vowels, and more. Decoding strategies help children sound out words rather than guessing from pictures or predicting from other cues.
Memorial Hall Library’s Decodable Collection has organized these books into 7 categories based on which phonics skill they contain. Additionally, we have included books for caregivers to learn more about literacy and raising life long readers. Browse through the catalog to see all titles available in our decodable collection!
