
The Memorial Hall Library Teen Fellowship is a selective, paid internship designed for motivated high school juniors and seniors interested in libraries, education, civic engagement, and community service. Fellows will learn what it means to work in a public library with a group of peers, support library staff and programing, contribute to projects that strengthen access to information and learning for all, and work on an extensive social media campaign. Applications are due by 9pm on Monday, March 23, 2026.
Fellows will gain:
- An understanding of library operations, ethics, privacy standards, intellectual freedom principals, and budgeting
- Hands-on experience in a public library setting
- Professional skills in communication, teamwork, and problem-solving
- Exposure to careers in libraries and public services
- Mentorship from library professionals
Fellowship Details
- Duration: 8 weeks
- Time Commitment: 6 hours per week
- Scholarship: $1,000 scholarship awarded to fellows who complete the program
- Location: Memorial Hall Library

- Start Date: Monday, April 6, 2026
- End Date: Sunday, May 31, 2026
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be a current high school junior or senior
- Be able to commit to the full 8-week program/6 hours per week
- Have an interest in libraries, learning, or community service
We strongly encourage students from all backgrounds, including those traditionally underrepresented in library and public service careers, to apply.
Fellow Responsibilities
- Attend meetings with library staff, trustees, and other students in the program
- Assist library staff with daily operations and special projects
- Support library programs for children, teens, and adults
- Interact respectfully and professionally with library patrons and staff
- Participate in weekly check-ins
- Develop a social media campaign
