July 2025 Puzzle: Dumb marsupial joke

The subject of this month's puzzle is a marsupial. Did you know you can see real live marsupials in the Franklin Park Zoo in Boston? Their Outback Trail exhibit includes two marsupial species: Red-necked wallabies and Western Grey kangaroos. Both are native to Australia and both are very cute! If you are thinking of visiting either the Franklin Park Zoo or the Stone Zoo in Stoneham, be sure to reserve the library's Zoo New England pass to get discounted admission. July Artist of the Month

Lorraine O’Brien’s interest in art is connected very closely to her love of nature, and the beauty of New England’s changing seasons. She finds her inspiration for landscapes and seascapes in coastal Maine, rural Vermont or sailing on the beautiful Lake Quannapowitt. Over the years, Lorraine has studied oil, watercolor and pen and ink with many well-known artists including Roger Curtis, George Shedd AWS, Cory Staid, Elmer Reising and Thaddeus Klodnicki AWS.

Juneteenth Reads

MHL will be closed on Thursday, June 19th in observance of Juneteenth. When the library is open, you can check out one of these nonfiction books about the history of Juneteenth, Reconstruction, and the enduring spirit of Black culture in America. And don't forget about Andover's Juneteenth celebration on Saturday, June 21st.

June 2025 Puzzle: Basic Math

Bad news, everybody. Due to cuts in federal funding to libraries through the Institute of Museum and Library Services, a service that costs 87 cents per person, we are for sure losing access to 21 databases on July 1st, wait times for ebooks and digital audiobooks through Libby will likely increase, and services like the Commonwealth Catalog have been threatened.
