The Boston Public Library (BPL) serves as the Library for the Commonwealth and provides those who live or work in Massachusetts with a Boston Public Library card for borrowing privileges.

Massachusetts residents have access to online library collections and services with a BPL e-card. A BPL e-card provides access to a broad selection of downloadable books, audiobooks, research databases, streaming music and video as well as digital newspapers and magazines. 

 

A traditional BPL card, for borrowing books on-site at BPL branch, is available to anyone who lives or works in Massachusetts. Apply for a traditional BPL card at any Boston Public Library location.  Applicants must provide a photo ID and proof of Massachusetts residency.
