Captain Marvel Comics

To the excitement of comics fans everywhere, Marvel recently released the trailer for the upcoming Captain Marvel movie, starring Brie Larson as Carol Danvers. Over the decades, multiple characters have used the title Captain Marvel, and it can be hard to know where to start with the comics. Here are some suggestions!

Earth's Mightiest Avenger by Kelly Sue DeConnick

Kelly Sue DeConnick's run of Captain Marvel began in 2012 and rekindled interest in the character. The look of the Captain Marvel movie seems to be drawn heavily on DeConnick's comics, including the costume redesign that Jamie McKelvie created for these comics. (These "Earth's Mightest Avenger" volumes are reprints of earlier collections of Captain Marvel comics.)
