Girls Who Code is a free program that will: girls, nonbinary teens, and allies of the GWC mission the basics of computer programming and coding; get them interested in STEM fields and careers; and build useful skills and confidence. Students do not have to be Andover residents or have a library card. The goal of the program is to close the gender gap in the computing and tech fields.
Memorial Hall Library runs a fall semester and a spring semester during the year for teens in grades 6 through 12. Our club can currently accommodate 10 students per semester because we hold our club meetings in the Teen Room. The Teen Room is a popular destination for many Andover teens so it needs to be available the rest of the week for other teen patrons.
Generally, club meetings are on Saturday mornings from 10 am to noon. We ask that teens miss no more than one Saturday during the semester.
Registrations and more information can be found on the MHL events calendar.
If you would like more information about this program or are an adult who is interesting in facilitating, please email Teen Services Librarian Anna at ya@mhl.org.
