About the artist
Mr. Gotha is a nationally-recognized New England landscape artist. This painting was part of Mr. Gotha's one-man exhibit at Memorial Hall in November, 2017. He and his wife, Beth, are residents of Andover.
My wife and I like to walk in the Moncrieff Bird Sanctuary at Phillips Academy, especially in the spring, when hundred-year-old rhododendrons are in full bloom. I started this painting on location and finished it in my studio. It is the first in a series of three paintings I did of this spectacular location, two depicting the pond and one depicting a nearby hillside that is also covered in rhododendrons.
