What is the Spring bird migration?

Everyone knows that birds arrive, but what about the ones that pass through? On Thursday, May 16 at 7pm, David Moon, Sanctuary Director for Mass Audubon's Joppa Flats Education Center in Newburyport will talk about the birds that migrate throught the North Shore. Massachusetts has many designated Important Bird Areas because they are vital to migrating birds that use the coast as a key stop during or destination of their annual migrations. This incredible flow of millions of birds represents the biological wealth of our hemisphere, but more than that, the individuals that comprise spring migration are irreplaceable physical links in the ecosystems people depend on well beyond our borders.
