Join local climber and mountaineer Rebecca Long for a conversation about her experiences and challenges getting to and summitting Mt. Everest.

In May of 2023, at just 29 years old, Rebecca Long became only the 14th US Women under the age of 30 to successfully summit Mt. Everest and likely one of the first 100 US Women to stand on Top of the World.  As a young woman participating in a male-dominated elite sport, Rebecca provides listeners with a unique and refreshing perspective. She translates her personal experiences on the mountain and in the financial sector into stories that inspire people to take challenges, overcome adversity, move forward and follow their dreams. Her Lessons Learned will leave listeners feeling energized and motivated. Her uplifting messages inspire people to work together to become their best selves in every aspect of their lives, both personal and professional.

Rebecca is an experienced global mountaineer who, in addition to Everest, has summited significant mountains in both North and South America. In order to attempt Everest, Rebecca left her successful job in finance when her employer balked at allowing her unpaid leave so she could seize the day and pursue her lifelong dream of climbing the highest mountain in the world. On the Everest expedition she constantly encountered and overcame near-death experiences as well as brutal weather conditions. She experienced tragedy first-hand when her team climber and friend, Jonathan, died at Camp 2. Following that tragedy and faced with an increasingly contentious team dynamic at camp, Rebecca stood up for herself in a male-dominated team to succeed on the mountain.
